MordBoard has no ads, in-app purchases, analytics or tracking SDKs. No account is needed. Favourites stay on your device. Loading sounds requires a technical connection to the server.
Who is responsible
Norman Lambert is responsible for the app and this website. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact norman.lambert@hotmail.de.
Data stored on your device
The app stores the sound catalogue, your favourites, settings and download information locally on your device. Downloaded audio files are saved in device storage. MordBoard does not send these records to me or to an analytics service. There are no user accounts and no app-operated cloud synchronisation.
You can remove downloads in the app settings and remove favourites by tapping the star again. Android settings let you clear app data. Downloaded or shared files may also remain in your Downloads folder or the receiving app, where you can remove them separately.
Depending on your system settings, Android may back up app data or transfer it to another device. These operating-system features are separate from MordBoard's own data transfers.
Website and sound server
Visiting this website or requesting a sound catalogue or audio file requires the server to process technical connection data. This includes your IP address, the requested path, the time of the request and HTTP headers sent by your browser or app, such as software information. The server needs the IP address to send the requested content to your device.
This processing is used only to deliver the website and sounds and to operate the service securely. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: the legitimate interest in providing a functional, secure, free service. This information is not combined into user profiles, used for advertising or sold.
No access logging is configured for routine website and sound requests. Connection data is processed to handle the request and is not stored in a user database. Technical operation and error logs may include connection information when a fault occurs. Such information is needed only for as long as diagnosing and resolving the fault or security incident requires; it is not analysed to measure app usage.
The website and sound server are hosted by STRATO GmbH in Germany. STRATO provides the hosting infrastructure and may have access to necessary operational data as a technical service provider. See STRATO's privacy information. I do not integrate services outside the EU for hosting.
Connections use HTTPS. Sounds already downloaded can be played without requesting them from the sound server again.
No ads or tracking
The app and this website have no advertising, in-app purchases, tracking SDKs, analytics or external crash-reporting services. This website sets no cookies and does not use Local Storage or other browser storage to recognise visitors. Fonts, images and styles are served locally. There are no embedded third-party fonts, videos or social-media widgets.
MordBoard is free, open source and operated without revenue. You can inspect the Android app's source code.
Permissions and sharing
The app uses internet access to load sound lists and audio files that have not been downloaded. Network status is used, for example, to distinguish Wi-Fi from mobile data. Older Android versions may require storage permission to save downloads. MordBoard does not access your contacts, location, camera or microphone.
When you share a sound, you send the selected audio file to an app of your choice. This happens only when you initiate sharing. The receiving app's privacy policy applies to any subsequent processing.
Contact by email
If you email me, I process your sender address and the information in your message to answer your enquiry. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is responding to your request. Please only send information needed for that purpose.
After your enquiry is resolved, messages are deleted once they are no longer needed to handle the enquiry, answer outstanding questions or meet legal retention requirements. The Hotmail contact address uses a Microsoft email service, which may process data outside the EU. Microsoft describes its processing and safeguards in its privacy statement.
External links
Displaying links to Google Play, GitHub, STRATO or other providers does not contact those services. Opening a link connects you to the relevant provider, whose privacy policy then applies. Installing or updating the app through Google Play is also handled by Google under its own terms.
Your rights
Subject to the applicable legal conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability (Articles 15–20 GDPR). You may complain to a data-protection supervisory authority, particularly in the place of your habitual residence, work or an alleged infringement (Article 77 GDPR).
You may object to processing based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR on grounds relating to your particular situation (Article 21 GDPR). Use the contact above to exercise your rights. There is no automated decision-making or profiling.
You do not need an account or personal details to use the app. However, the website and sounds that have not been downloaded cannot be delivered without the necessary technical connection. I cannot access or delete favourites and downloads stored on your device.
Changes to this policy
This policy is updated when features or data processing change. The current English version is permanently available at mordboard.norman-server.de/privacy and the German version at /datenschutz.
